The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is proud to highlight one of our Mission Partners, Fishin’ For A Cure. Mission Partners are champions of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund that commit to fundraising at a high level. All of our Mission Partners play a critical role in the success of the Fund!
Fishin’ For A Cure is a week-long event that is spearheaded by Kris Shoffner and Krystal Tyndall. The event, which has grown over the past seven years from a poker fishing tournament raising $21,000 to a multi-faceted, week-long celebration with a group of, now, more than 150 women and men from all over the southeastern United States descending on Emerald Isle, NC for a wonderful week of friends, food, “fishin” and fellowship!
“The amazing thing is, this event went from a week in October to something that is talked about, literally, year-round in the community,” said Krystal Tyndall explaining that the addition of a golf tournament, cornhole tournament and “Pink Pint Night” have allowed the event to expand, being attractive to a much broader group of women and men who are interested in making a difference. In the time since Fishin’ For A Cure started, the ladies also opened The Trading Post, a restaurant that puts a southern twist on delicious fresh cuisine. The restaurant is also an avenue for donations. Patrons have an opportunity to donate as they dine, adding year-round fundraising and awareness for the cause. Plans are already underway for their 5th anniversary celebration in October 2017!
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is most grateful for the continued support of the ladies of Fishin’ For A Cure. Their passion and commitment is an inspiration to us all!
