Kay Yow Cancer Fund Awards $150,000 Grant to Cleveland Clinic Cancer Institute

Cleveland, OH (April 5, 2024) For the 16th consecutive year, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is proud to award a grant on behalf of coaches, players, officials and fans nationwide in the host city of the Women’s Basketball Final Four

This year, a $150,000 grant will be awarded to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Institute to support cancer prevention and outreach programs. These programs help reduce disparities in access to screenings, diagnosis and treatment of cancer for disadvantaged communities facing socioeconomic barriers, lack of health insurance coverage and limited healthcare resources.

“From the moment we met the team at Cleveland Clinic we knew we had to support their programs,” said Jenny Palmateer, Kay Yow Cancer Fund CEO. “Their passion for serving under-resourced women and ensuring every woman has access to quality cancer care was undeniable. We look forward to the impact this will have.”

“We are profoundly grateful to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for their support of our community outreach and patient navigation program,” said NaSheema Anderson, Community Outreach Department Manager, Cleveland Clinic Cancer Institute. “This collaboration holds immense promise as it will enable us to reach and assist so many people who may have been unaware of the importance of early detection or lacked access to vital screening services. We look forward to working with the foundation to improve survival rates and enhance cancer outcomes in Northeast Ohio and beyond.”

Special thanks to the women’s basketball community for making this grant possible.

Together – we are louder, stronger and unstoppable.
